Make Every Day Pancake Day.

Yesterday was Pancake Tuesday (or Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday, Mardi Gras, whatever you want to call it…) and we had a fun pancake party at the Makers Loft to celebrate! So today, for those of you who missed it, weren’t in Berlin or are interested in making your own delicious ‘cakes, here’s the recipe we used:

1 cup flour
1 tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp oil
1 cup milk (or buttermilk)
1 egg
a pinch of salt

Mix ingredients together.
Spoon mixture onto a hot pan with a 1/4 cup measure, or a ladle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.
Makes about 8 medium sized pancakes.
Serve immediately, with lots of butter and maple syrup. You can also add mixin’s into the batter - think blueberries, chocolate, banana, oats, apples - it’s infinitely adaptable!

Enjoy! Thanks to those who came out last night, we had a fantastic time.

Happy International Tourist Guide Day!

According to the World Federation of Tourist Guide Associations, Feb. 21st is International Tourist Guide Day! The day aims to bring the attention of local authorities, fellow citizens and the media to the quality and value of local tourist guides. At Gidsy (from the Dutch word “Gids”, meaning guide), we love our tour guides! The many unique urban adventures that are listed on Gidsy motivate us every day, and we’re thrilled to have such a cool group of local guides be part the Gidsy Community.
