Food Revolution Day Update

Since the big Food Revolution Day launch, we’ve received a bunch of really great local food event submissions from all across the globe. It’s been really exciting to see people from all walks of life getting involved with this great campaign, and we can’t wait for what’s next.

Here are some examples of events happening around the world on May 19th;

  • In Nashville, join local foodies, chefs and nutrition experts for a day of fun, learning and eating (!!) at the farmer’s market.
  • In Sao Paulo, take a tour of the local street markets, followed by a walk in the park.
  • In Malaysia, a real-food potluck and play date for local mums and babies will help teach mothers to prepare wholesome, homemade food.
  • In Sydney, enjoy an Italian slow-food dinner and get inspired by the locally sourced ingredients and homemade pasta, cured meats and wine.
  • In Berlin, join our Seed Funding event. We’ll provide the seeds, pots, dirts and tags and spend an afternoon planting together at the Gidsy HQ! We would love to see you there.

Food Revolution Day events will all be surrounding real food, health or fitness, and you’ll even learn a little something!

Are you friends with the local food purveyors at your farmer’s market? Know how to plant the best balcony garden? Can you make your own cheese with ease? If you have an idea and want to get involved, be sure to create your local food event for May 19th!

Obviously, it’s high time to plan the upcoming weekend. We’re crossing our fingers that the weather in your part of the world doesn’t let you down either, because in this edition of our “Fab Weekend Planner”, it’s all about being out and about. Here are some activities happening on Gidsy this weekend.

Berlin

  • Did winter make you believe that Berlin is a grey city with a history that tastes like sour relish? Rediscover the lady at the Spree on the ’The Essential Berlin Walk’.
  • And while were’re at it - the Spree, I mean - you might want to enjoy the sunshine from a boat. ‘Know more about the Spree river’ and marvel at the city along the water.

New York

Amsterdam

  • Rent a bike and pretend you’re Dutch, or, in case you are Dutch, pretend you’re a tourist on the ‘Explore Amsterdam with a local’ tour.
  • If you’d rather spend some time with your camera, some birds, and surrounded by beautiful nature, the ‘Workshop Kingfisher Photography’ might be an option.

Los Angeles

  • Find out what’s ‘Behind The Hollywood Sign’. The 360 degree view from up there (complimented by a sparkling cider toast) could give you a new perspective of LA.
  • Or you ‘Learn to eat fire’ and give your friends the opportunity to develop a new perspective of you…

London

San Francisco

Of course, this is just a selection of activities going on this weekend. Check your Gidsy city page to find out what else is on in your city. Froher Frühling!
