A Stumptown coffee workshop, Gidsy style

This past Saturday, Floris, Hannes and I (Katie) braved a torrential downpour and made it out to Filter Kaffebar’s first Gidsy activity - a Stumptown coffee brewing & tasting workshop. Fun, and a little too much coffee, was had by all!

Apart from the terrible weather, it was a great afternoon. We met some really cool people, and learned loads about Stumptown coffee, the processes and procedures of cuppings, the immense variety of coffee flavours, different brewing techniques (Chemex, Aeropress, Iced coffee & cold brew), and why it’s very important to slurp your coffee as loud as possible.

I also took a few fun recordings during the cupping - you can hear how loud you’re supposed to slurp - and also documented Hannes and Floris’ (very educated) opinions of the Aeropressed cups of Guatemalan beans we sampled.

Thanks so much to Michael and Jennifer from Filter Kaffebar for organizing this awesome workshop! You can see by their great reviews that it was a really fun time - so we hope they’ll host another one soon.

In the meantime, you can find them serving delicious Stumptown coffee at a farmer’s market near you…
