On using Gidsy as a traveler: Meet Yihsun.
Today, instead of featuring an organizer, we’d like to introduce you to Yihsun - one of our power bookers. Yihsun has attended 10 different Gidsy activities so far, and we love her for it. She also gifted some wicked cool skateboards that she designed to the Gidsy office!

Keep reading to learn how, as a world traveler, Yihsun uses Gidsy to meet new people, and all about her amazing skateboards (they really are cool).
Tell us a bit about yourself.
I’m from Taiwan. In 2011, for the first time Germany was offering a Working Holiday Visa for 200 Taiwanese people under 30 years old. I was always thinking about taking a big trip, like in the movies. In the first 6 months I started from Munich, and then went to France, Spain, Italy, Norway, Denmark, the Baltic Sea, Russia, Polland, Morroco and so on… I was moving and traveling with my bag every day. Half a year later, I thought I should stop by and stay in a city for a while in order to experience more, so I moved to Berlin last September. I have to say, my first impression of Berlin was so bad! It was raining very heavy when I arrived. Ha!
How did you find out about Gidsy?
My friend told me about Gidsy, so I searched it on Google and really I really liked the idea. A social network is supposed connect people and make them closer, but now, Facebook or Twitter makes people hide behind the Internet without any real connection. Gidsy is a brilliant way to share a real experience. For me, as a foreign traveler, it’s a better way to know the city and I always recommend it to my friends. Gidsy is just like a live-action version of Lonely Planet. I mean, I totally love it.
For me, Gidsy is just like my travel bible, which always allows me to meet great friends and have some fun together.
What is your favourite Gidsy activity that you’ve been to so far?
Basically, every activity I joined never let me down, but the best one was the private “Löffel Gerichte” dinner.
For me, Gidsy is just like my travel bible, which always allows me to meet great friends and have some fun together.
You made us a few really cool skateboards for the office - how did you learn to make and design skateboards?
Thank you! Actually, I majored in Satellite Imaging and my partner Pompi Hsu majored in Nanoelectronics. We don’t have any background in the design of skateboards, but we have a passion for surfing. Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? My partner and I wanted to create skateboards (called Wave On Board - www.waveonboard.com), which make skateboarding feel like surfing.

This summer I will organize some W.O.B activities on Gidsy. Don’t forget to join us then!
Where is the most memorable place you’ve ever visited?
Nepal, where we decided to start our business. It made our life different.
What are you reading right now?
A book about Postwar Europe, by Tony Judt. Of course, it’s the Chinese version.
